Physical Therapy ICU course
Within the framework of joint cooperation and activation of cooperation protocols, the Faculty of Physical Therapy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) organized with the EG Physio Foundation an intensive course in physical therapy in the intensive care unit on the 6th and 7th of July.
The workshop provided a Triple Accreditation Certificate from EGADH, Knowledge Bridge, and Faculty of Physical Therapy, MSA University.
Congratulations to the winning team
A research team from MSA University has successfully completed an integrated process for producing sustainable clean fuel, design and implementation of an exhaust gas tracking and analysis device. This achievement aims to support the climate race towards zero emissions and address the effects of climate change through a project funded by the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority. The project is led by Prof. Dr. Nour Shafik El-Gendy, Head of the Innovation and Technology Support Office, a member of the Scientific Center of Excellence for Projects and Entrepreneurship, and the Technology Transfer and Marketing Office at MSA University.

Paving the Future for Sustainable Physiotherapy Conference
Aligned with the World Health Organization's (WHO) vision, recognizing patient empowerment for self-management as fundamental to sustainable healthcare,
The Faculty of Physical Therapy hosted the 3rd Students' Conference, entitled "Paving the Future for Sustainable Physiotherapy," with the honour & participation of esteemed guests from different universities to exchange their experiences in the field of sustainable physiotherapy. The students’ research topics were presented and evaluated by some of the guests and faculty members, with the focus of all the selected topics aiming at natural treatment and environmentally friendly health care. They were also honored and the first ones were honoured for their scientific excellence.
The conference also aimed to explore the interventions for self-management that often incorporate principles of self-efficacy, which enables reduced health service utilization without compromising patient health outcomes. For instance, physical therapy interventions are highly recommended for many pain conditions and have similar or more benefits than surgical or pharmacological interventions, with a much lower impact on climate change focusing on the importance of Physiotherapists and other health professionals' encouragement to research, design and implement protocols that are high in sustainable value.
Innovation and Scientific Research: New Horizons for a Better Future
Students of the Faculty of Physical Therapy participated in the second International Student Conference for Scientific Research entitled "Innovation and Scientific Research: New Horizons for a Better Future (Generation Z)"
The conference aimed to promote the dissemination of a culture of entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, innovation, and scientific research among first-year university students, with a primary focus on applications of artificial intelligence related to health, particularly in analyzing the relationship between preventive or therapeutic methods and patient outcomes.
Discussions also covered how artificial intelligence programs aid in the diagnostic process, contribute to improving treatment plans, develop physical therapy, monitor and care for patients, and are utilized in personalized medicine. The conference took place on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Cairo University's conference center, under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khashab, President of Cairo University, with the attendance of several students from different academic levels within the faculty.

Prof. Dr. Olfat Diab, Dean of the Faculty, participated in the opening ceremony of the conference and as chair of a scientific session. Adding to the significance, our students presented cutting-edge research on evaluation and assessment, earning advanced ranks among Egyptian universities.

The Faculty of Physical therapy held a condensed training for the exclusive Mettler Traction Decompression that provides cervical & lumbar traction by exerting therapeutic pulling forces on the patient’s body with enhanced reliability and ease of use.

In line with our commitment to sustainable development and enhancing healthcare quality, the Faculty of Physical Therapy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) participated in the third international conference hosted by Misr University for Science and Technology's Faculty of Physical Therapy titled ‘Greening the Road to Rehabilitation,'

Students from the Faculty of Physical Therapy visited Al-Yasmine Elderly Home on the occasion of the International Day of Older People.
In collaboration with Lebaladna, faculty members, staff, and students from various academic levels at the faculty came together to deliver a special lecture on the importance of proper and healthy nutrition for the elderly, as well as the correct posture for the spine.
Additionally, they interacted with the residents and engaged in fun interactive activities.
Thanks to all who participated in this wonderful day and contributed to bringing joy and happiness to the ladies at Al-Yasmine Elderly Home. We are working together for a healthier and happier community.
Faculty of Physical Therapy Hosts Anti-Smoking & Addiction Awareness Session
The Community Service and Sustainable Development Committee at the faculty of Physical Therapy organized an awareness session under the title "The Dangers of Smoking and Addiction and Their Negative Effects on Individuals and Society" on Monday, October 2nd. The session featured the participation of Dr. Hisham Gomaa, a specialist in psychology and addiction treatment from the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund, and a certified psychotherapist approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, as well as Dr. Salah Ashour, the Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in the Ministry of Interior's Medical Services Sector.
The session addressed the problems and consequences resulting from addiction in various aspects of life, emphasizing the role of the state in tackling them collaboratively with all segments of society and its institutions to raise awareness among citizens about the risks of addiction. It also highlighted the importance of assisting addicts in their recovery process by introducing them to addiction treatment centres that handle individuals with confidentiality and professionalism, targeting not only specific groups but all segments of society through visits, tours, and meetings.

Titled "PT Role for Spinal Deformities, 3D Spine Analysis, and Treatment," this workshop was led by the esteemed Dr. El Sayed Ali Abdo Mohammed, an expert with an MSc from Cairo University and is certified in Schroth BSPTS & ISST and the Leon Method.
The workshop's primary focus was to dive deep into three crucial areas which are 3-dimensional Self-Correction, Training Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Stabilization of Corrected Posture. Proper Ergonomics and Health Tips
As a celebration of World Health Day,
The Faculty of Physical Therapy at MSA University, in collaboration with Lebaladna Foundation for Community Development, visited an orphanage for girls and conducted a workshop entitled "Proper Ergonomics and Health Tips". Practical training was given on adopting correct postures to reduce the chances of spinal injuries. There were also joint activities between faculty members and the Lebaladna team with the girls at the orphanage. Additionally, necessary guidance was provided to maintain overall health and proper body mechanics to avoid future deformities caused by incorrect body postures.

World Breastfeeding Week
The Faculty of Physical therapy, October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) held a scientific day coinciding with the World Breastfeeding Week, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Nawal El-Degwi, Prof. Dr. Khairy Abdel Hamid, President of the University, and a number of faculty staff members, teaching assistants and University staff.
The Scientific day aimed to raise awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and achieves several goals of sustainable development and awareness of proper nutrition for women during pregnancy and lactation. In addition, it aimed to talk about some pregnancy and postpartum problems and the importance of supporting women in the breastfeeding stage, and the role of physical therapy in the health of Women before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after childbirth.
The first international scientific forum for physiotherapy in the field of oncology
In the framework of cooperation with Baheya Hospital for early detection and treatment of breast cancer for women, Prof. Dr. Olfat Diab, Dean of the Faculty of Physical therapy, was invited to represent October University for Modern Sciences and Arts to participate in the first international scientific forum for physiotherapy in the field of oncology to discuss the latest methods and techniques of physical therapy for cancer patients.

Computer Workstation Ergonomics
The Faculty of Physical therapy, in cooperation with the Faculty of Computer Science, at MSA University held a workshop entitled “Computer Workstation Ergonomics” that dealt with the Academic staff members who use computers for extended periods of time and may experience discomfort or pain as a result of poor posture, improper adjustment or use of workstation components or other factors.
In addition, some guidelines on how to adjust their computer workstations were given in order to work safely and to be productive.
Towards A Better Healthy Life
The Faculty of Physical therapy held their 1st Physical Therapy Students Conference.
The conference entitled "Towards A Better Healthy Life" will discussed the Students’ participation in research projects under the supervision of the faculty’s supporting staff members with the aim of a better healthy life.
Electro-diagnostic Training
The Faculty of Physical Therapy organized a workshop about Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) studies which are considered the most reliable diagnostic procedures to assess the health of muscles and their nerve supply besides practical training of staff members on different EMG procedures & NCV measurements.

In completion of the training steps at the Faculty of Physical therapy at MSA University to enhance and develop the skills of faculty staff members and teaching assistants, a training workshop was held in the faculty on Wednesday 13th of April, 2022.

In a related context, with the start of the study at the Faculty of Physical therapy MSA University, all medical laboratories of the faculty were operated, including anatomy lab and museum, biochemistry lab, histology lab, which includes the latest types of electronic microscopes, physiology lab and finally the biophysics lab, and these labs are mainly used for students for practical training for basic medical sciences

Within the framework of preparing a distinguished work team at the Faculty of Physical therapy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, and in the light of supporting facilities for teaching and learning within the capabilities of the faculty and training on the use of technology in treatment, the second training was conducted live in the outpatient clinic showing and applying on the therapeutic laser devices whether scanner type, probe and pointer for different cases and according to each pathological condition.
Physical Therapy practical prospects of electrotherapy and principles of application
Within the framework of preparing staff members at the faculty of physical therapy at October University for Modern Science and Arts on Tuesday 22 of February at 9:30 a.m. that had the title of “Practical prospects of electrotherapy and principles of application”, in light of supporting faculty for teaching and learning within the capabilities of the faculty and training on the use of technology in treatment, the first training was conducted for 4 hours about the use of electrotherapy lab facilities: Therapeutic Laser devices, Ultrasound and Magnetic therapy device that were applied on the patients.

Tarek Hussien, PHD in physical therapy from TWU, Houston, TX and MA in Sociology at UHCL.
He started his visit with a few minutes meeting with the University president Prof. Khairy Abdel Hameed, talking about the university vision, and collaboration with British universities, spirit and achievements at MSA.

On 12/01/2022, a Sector Committee visit from a tripartite committee formed by the Supreme Council of Universities headed by the head of the Physiotherapy Studies Sector Committee, Prof. Dr. Amira Tohamy, and its members: Prof. Dr. Jihan El Miniawy, Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy - Cairo University and Prof. Dr. Walid Talaat, Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy, Benha University, to examine and inspect the material and human capabilities and laboratories. The recommendation was to agree to the sufficiency of the capabilities.
