The International Collegiate Programming Contest is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams of three, representing the university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure.
MSA CPC Community is aimed at providing students with the necessary competitive programming training to qualify for the International Collegiate Programming Contest. Our mission is to equip students to qualify them for the competition and prepare them for the competition’s tricks and any constraints that they might face during the phases of the competition. Members will be provided with resources and support from competitive programming coaches, academic staff, and peers in the industry. Under the supervision of the academic staff at MSA CS, members will be competing among each other in teams so that the most qualified team(s) will be representing the university at a national level at the ECPC in August of each year. The club provides students with scheduled training sessions over the course of the academic year to eventually participate at the ECPC (Egyptian Collegiate Programming Contest).
1. Spreading awareness of how important problem solving and programming skills are.
2. Teaching programming languages to members of the community to strike a balance to students between problem solving and latest technology trends.
3. Qualifying MSA students to the ICPC to compete worldwide.
4. Creating an inspiring environment to help all competitive programming enthusiasts reach their ultimate potential.
5. Provide a correct and strong starting point for juniors by offering multi-level problem-solving training sessions.
MSA CPC Community was founded by two students from the Faculty of Computer science in 2022, Mohamed Alaa as a senior student and Ashraf Hany as a second-year student, both had the same passion for competitive programming that eventually led them to create this community club under the supervision of Dr. Islam El Shaarawy as their mentor. After the community was founded, in 2023, 22 teams from CS and Engineering participated in the ECPC 2023 Qualification round where two teams qualified for the finals. Throughout the academic year, (from fall to summer) intensive sessions were given periodically to prepare the students for such an endeavor.
