1. The Role of Physical Therapy in Cerebral Palsy: The campaign kicked off with a presentation by Dr. Safy El-Din Abu Ali, a lecturer in the Pediatric Department at the Faculty of Physical Therapy. Dr. Abu Ali emphasized the essential contributions of physical therapy in the treatment and management of cerebral palsy, highlighting various therapeutic techniques that can significantly improve the quality of life for affected individuals.
2. Achieving Sustainable Development Goals: Following this, Dr. Riham El-Sharbeni, a consultant in physical therapy and nutritional therapy and a member of the Health Committee at the Sayyidaty Foundation for Sustainable Development, took the stage. She discussed how to align efforts in managing cerebral palsy with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. El-Sharbeni addressed the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in society and outlined strategies to overcome these barriers, fostering a more inclusive environment.
3. Real-Life Experiences and Success Stories: The event also featured Ms. Doha Hamid, the founder of 4Kids Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centers for Children. Ms. Hamid shared real-life experiences and case studies, showcasing the impactful results of intensive physical therapy in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy. Her presentation highlighted the importance of individualized care plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
In addition to the informative sessions, the campaign culminated in a recognition ceremony, honoring a group of individuals with special needs from various categories within MSA. This gesture not only celebrated their achievements but also reinforced the university’s commitment to inclusivity and support for all its members whether students or staff. The speakers were also recognized for their invaluable contributions to raising awareness about cerebral palsy.
The "Paint the World Green for Cerebral Palsy" campaign was a significant step towards educating the community about the challenges faced by those with cerebral palsy and the role of sustainable practices in enhancing their lives. The Faculty of Physical Therapy at MSA is dedicated to continuing this vital conversation and supporting initiatives that empower individuals with disabilities.
