Aflatoxin toxins in Tahini Products

MSA University and the Faculty of Biotechnology would love to congratulate its astonishing graduate Hana Tarek El Badry, a researcher and a patent assistant at Talal Abu- Ghazala Intellectual Property Company, for getting her nutritional research “Aflatoxin toxins in Tahini Products” published in one of the largest food magazines in England.

The Faculty of Biotechnology signed a cooperation protocol with the businessman, Engineer Mohamed Abdel-Rafea Al-Sisi, owner of Trans Chem Group for Industry and Trans Chem for Trade and Supplies, owner of the International Agency for Advertising, Training, Technical Consulting and Exhibitions, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nano Kim for Trade and Industry and the owner of Naseej Kim Business International Magazine Owner of the month news website and head of the Finance Ministry Committee (taxes and customs) at the General Union of the Investors Division of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the head of the Plastics and Petrochemicals Division of the Tenth of Ramadan Investors Association and the Chairman of the Council of Arab Scholars and Industry.

The Seed Processing Station

As part of the practical and field training for students of the Faculty of Biotechnology, MSA University, students enrolled in the (Host Plant Resistance) course visited the “Seed Processing Station” of Fine Seed International company in Sadat city.

 

Our amazing and wonderful students of the Faculty of Biotechnology visited the oldest and greatest sources of knowledge in history, which was developed by Alexander the Great and carried out by Ptolemy I and Ptolemy II, a library overlooking the Mediterranean shore in the most beautiful and oldest cities in the world as a part of Biotechnology's Book Club activity.

Human genome project

Our amazing young scientists from the faculty of biotechnology watched a movie about the Human genome project, the movie talked about the international scientific research project with the goal of determining the sequence of nucleotide base pairs that make up human DNA, and mapping all of the genes, it remains the world's largest collaborative biological project.

To further consummate the collaboration agreement between the faculty of Biotechnology at MSA University and the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI), delegates from the faculty members, presided by the Dean of the faculty Prof. Ayman Diab, visited the research institute, on Sunday the 14th of July, with the intent of determining the cooperative potential between establishments.

 

Our distinguished and amazing faculty of Biotechnology conducted the Industrial Projects’ Poster Discussion Day.
 

A huge success for the students’ 5th edition of “Biotechnology Horizons 2050” the conference of the Complex Genome Analysis course with the attendance of 253 students, staff and visitors where everyone enjoyed a scientific presentations and discussions, with the presence of pioneers in this field, Dr. Mohamed Attia, Dr. Mohamed El Hadidi, and Dr. Ahmed Nada.

Practical Session for Biotechology TAs

To proceed with the faculty of Biotechnology 's initiative in building and rehabilitating .Dr Mohamed Maged organized a practical session for all assistant staff where a study was performed to express heterogenous proteins using E.coli.

The faculty of biotechnology just held the poster discussion session for 168 students enrolled in the Industrial projects course which included a demonstration of the student’s individual projects in all fields of biotechnology. The students’ projects were mainly proposed biotechnological ventures aimed at solving persisting industrial issues, introducing novel applications as well as advancements or enhancements to preexisting ones. Each student has three examiners to evaluate the poster.

Faculty of Biotechnology New Program

The faculty of Biotechnology started the new program to build the capacity of teaching assistants staff and to share information.

The industrial projects students were given a unique experience. Where the Chairman and CEO of Delta Aromatics Mr. Omar Abdelreheem and Mr. Joachuin Lanz provided a lecture on the world of aromatics including perfumery, flavoring, food coloring and essential oils in general.

The faculty of Biotechnology held a session for the Systems Biology. The session was given by research assistant Mr. Ali Kishk who discussed several concepts into using computational structures for biological applications and systems biology methods in Malaria resistance.

Faculty of Biotechnology field trip

Our students at the Faculty of Biotechnology just got a chance to go on a fieldtrip to the technological unit for dairy products at the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University in Giza. The aim of the visit was first to get acquainted with the manufacturing processes of making cheese, custard, rice pudding and yogurt as well as deriving inspiration for a biotechnological venture aimed at solving any challenges faced by the unit during manufacturing or improving one of their pre-existing products.

MSA Graduation Ceremony 2016/2017

Pride and Glory at MSA’s 17th Class Graduation Ceremony. Modern Science and Arts University's graduation ceremony on the 3rd and 4th of October, 2017 combined glare and glory as graduates will be receiving a Greenwich or Bedfordshire degree, alongside the Egyptian one. More than 30 scholarships were awarded for students of Greenwich programme for higher education including: Master degrees and PhD; alongside acceptance letter in their masters programs and partial scholarships. MSA Graduates had undoubtedly taken a leap and had an edge over their peers' counterparts.

The Biotechnology Journal club session

The faculty of Biotechnology once again provides innovative means of education where on the 30th of April 2016 ,the faculty of Biotechnology launched an introductory session describing the format of the journal club. Dr. Amr Ageez, associate professor at the faculty conducted a presentation on the importance of maintaining scientific reading habits. The presentation illustrated the difference between a primary research paper, and a review, how to read a paper in 10 minutes as well as how to identify the indicators of the author’s main points.

Biotechnology students in IceMan Factory

The industrial project students visited the ice-man industry. They were supervised with four teaching assistants which organized the visit very professionally, since we were divided into multiple groups to avoid any ciaos and avoid any disruptions to the workers since it is a busy industry and time is a major factor in affecting the production.

The biotechnology industrial projects students had the privilege of attending a lecture by Mr. Mohamed Hussien Essawy the operation manager of Metalab diagnostics laboratories, the purpose of the lecture was to help the students with finding ideas for their industrial project proposal and to provide them with more prospects about tests made in laboratories and how many machines can help them in identifying the presence of diseases or abnormalities in samples obtained from patients.

On the 7th of February 2016, The Faculty of Biotechnology held presentations for the 2015 graduating students’ projects. The event began with a Presentation from the Dean of the Faculty Prof. Ayman Diab, and a hosting from the course coordinator Dr. Gehan Safwat entailing the current achievements. Accomplishments this semester by the students included acquiring new venues such as the animal health research center, Suez canal University, El Demerdash hospital, the biotechnology lab, NRC, Kuwait medical genetics research center (KMGRC), and the Ansary lab.

The Faculty of Biotechnology has successfully signed a contract with the Agency for Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) highlighting a research grant that would put an Egyptian team of multidisciplinary scientists in work for 24 months to fight liver cancer with nanobiotechnology techniques.

Graduating students of the Faculty of Biotechnology always bring charm and pride to our campus! They have presented their projects, amazed the audience as well as the science community both nationally and internationally.

Biotechnology Industrial Projects - 2015

Industrial Projects Course in the Faculty of Biotechnology is unique and exquisite course for three students of level three in particular, which opens their eyes to the various fields of Biotechnology. 

Autism is the fastest growing neurodevelopmental disorder, it affects 1 in 68 children and is on the rise and even though science keeps developing every day, yet the majority of the people are absolutely unaware of the disorder and how its cases shall be treated.

Professor Dr. Ayman Diab "Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology", and Professor Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud "The Director of the Horticultural Research Institute" signed a Partnership and Collaborative Agreement contract . The benefits of it would aid the exchange of experiences between the Faculty and the Institute while training the students in various fields with extensive laboratory work every year. 

“Freedom of Speech means nothing when it comes within Ethical Deterioration. Youngsters should participate in serving the community”

These meaningful words were the beginning of Mohamed Sobhi the famous actor in his speech which her delivered at the meeting hosted by Professor/ Dr Nawal El Degwi, MSA Head of the Board of Trustees to announce the initiative taken by the actor to contribute to the social and humanitarian projects carried out by “Lebaladna Social Foundation”.

In the fully-packed Hall of the SSB, students, parents, along with the judging jury, intently paid attention to the graduation projects presented by our remarkable graduating Biotechnology students.

The projects were expertly presented and engaged crucial topics and problems. The students focused on solutions that can be implemented in real-life applications in Egypt to effectively alter the quality of life of Egyptians across several demographics in the medical, industrial and commercial fields.

Annual Luxor-Aswan Trip 2015

MSA Sports and Social Administration headed by Dr Salah Abdel Hady and in collaboration of the Students’ Union, organised a trip to Luxor and Aswan where 43 MSA students participated. The trip activities programme included visits of several attractive sites and a variety of recreational input.

Eight of our MSA's Biotechnology students participated in Science Operations Leaders in Egypt "SOLE"2015 in the Conference Center of Medicine at Cairo University. The first award for best presentation was given to "Amr Yasser".

TA Rima Mohamed Akram Akid got her Master Degree in Biotechnology from Manchester University in UK.

Modern Science and Arts University's graduation ceremony this year combined glare and glory as graduates will be receiving a Greenwich degree alongside the Egyptian one. MSA Graduates had undoubtedly taken a leap and had an edge over their peers' counterparts. MSAU graduates included Faculty of Dental & Oral Hygiene, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Mass Com, Faculty of Computer Sciences and Faculty of Languages. Thousand of parents witnessed the ceremony where Professor Dr Nawal El Degwi Head of Board of Trustees and Professor Dr Khairy Abdel Hamid MSAU President welcomed them, who in turn expressed their gratitude and commended the cherished care of their sons and daughters which prepared them to the challenge of the ever changing and demanding job market. Outstanding graduates received fifteen free scholarships to study Masters Degree in United Kingdom's Universities.

Head of the Board of Trustees received MSA students who attended the UK Study Abroad Programme Summer 2014 in our collaborative partner University of Greenwich, to grant them their UK Study Abroad Programme Certificates & Best Achievers Trophies.
