MSA University successfully hosted its Interprofessional Education (IPE) Seminar, “Healthy Aging: One Team, One Healthy Future,” on 7 October 2026 at the SSB Building, bringing together students and faculty members from Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, and, for the first time, Nutrition in a collaborative healthcare learning experience.
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between different healthcare disciplines in improving the quality of care and overall well-being of older adults. By bringing together four healthcare fields, the seminar demonstrated how combining different areas of expertise can contribute to more comprehensive and patient-centered approaches to healthy aging.
Throughout the event, participants explored four key pillars of healthy aging: mobility and fall prevention, oral health, medication safety, and balanced nutrition. These areas highlighted the complementary roles of different healthcare professionals and the importance of working together when addressing the complex needs of older adults.
A key highlight of the event was the “Healthy Aging Challenge,” which brought students from the participating healthcare disciplines together in multidisciplinary teams. The students worked collaboratively on integrated clinical cases, requiring them to combine their knowledge and perspectives to analyze cases and develop appropriate solutions.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to put their academic knowledge into practice while developing essential professional skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and collaborative decision-making. More importantly, it demonstrated how students from different healthcare backgrounds can work together by understanding and integrating each discipline’s contribution to patient care.
The event reached an exciting conclusion with the announcement of the winning team, celebrating the students’ collaborative efforts, commitment, and achievements throughout the challenge.
Beyond the competition, the event provided students with a valuable interprofessional learning experience that connected classroom knowledge with clinical collaboration. Working alongside their peers from other healthcare disciplines allowed them to gain a deeper appreciation of multidisciplinary teamwork and its role in achieving better patient outcomes.
The inclusion of Nutrition for the first time also marked an important milestone in MSA University’s ongoing commitment to expanding interprofessional education and strengthening collaboration across healthcare disciplines.
Through the IPE “Healthy Aging” event, MSA University continues to prepare future healthcare professionals to communicate, collaborate, and combine their expertise in addressing the evolving needs of older adults and contributing to a healthier future.
