MSA Mass Communication Showcases Students’ Creativity in Documentary Films and Docudrama

The Faculty of Mass Communication at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), under the patronage and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amani Fahmy, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, organized a screening of documentary films and docudrama productions on Sunday, 6 September 2026, presented as part of the graduation projects of Grad Two students for the Summer Semester 2026.

The screening featured four diverse productions, each connected to one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing a range of humanitarian, social, and developmental themes. The projects explored the social integration of people affected by leprosy and the stigma surrounding the disease; a woman’s renewed focus on her life and physical and psychological wellbeing after the age of forty; education in rural Egypt and the role of teachers; and the journey of small enterprises from humble beginnings to success, presented through the example of ElAraby Group.

The Faculty also welcomed Director Ahmed Wahdan, who brings extensive professional experience from Egyptian television and the Egyptian Documentary Channel. His career includes directing several arts programmes, including “Masa’a El Fan,” as well as serving as First Assistant Director on a number of prominent television series, including “Shahadet Milad,” “Ana Shahira… Ana El Khaen,” “Bein Alamein,” and “Zay El Shams.” During the session, he highlighted the importance of mastering contemporary management and directing skills and their role in developing students’ professional capabilities and preparing them for the media industry.

The Faculty also hosted its 2021 alumnus, Director Islam Soliman, who currently works as a Director and Art Producer at the Egyptian Documentary Channel, in addition to his role as a Director at Nogoum FM TV. He has been recognized as an exemplary employee on several occasions in appreciation of his professional excellence, discipline, and commitment to workplace ethics.

The graduation projects were supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reham Salah El-Din, Acting Head of the Radio and Television Department, as part of the department’s commitment to strengthening applied learning and connecting academic study with professional practice.

Through such projects and industry engagement, the Faculty of Mass Communication continues to provide students with opportunities to transform academic knowledge into meaningful media productions, supporting the development of a new generation of media professionals capable of creating innovative and impactful content.
