MSA Mass Communication Students Explore Sustainability at KarmSolar

As part of its commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability, the Faculty of Mass Communication at MSA University organized a field visit to KarmSolar’s solar energy farm in Wadi El Natrun for students enrolled in the Media Management course. The visit was organized by Dr. Eman Mosharafa, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, with the aim of encouraging students to develop innovative digital content around renewable energy, green cities, and sustainability as a way of life.

During the visit, students explored how solar energy is produced and its various applications, gaining a closer understanding of its role in supporting development, promoting sustainability, and protecting the environment. The experience also provided an opportunity to connect their academic knowledge with real-world applications and develop ideas for digital content highlighting Egypt’s efforts in renewable energy and sustainability.

The visit offered students a unique opportunity to observe the relationship between technology and the environment firsthand. They also reflected on the distinctive visual contrast between the green fields and the surrounding desert landscape while exploring the solar farm and experiencing the environment in which renewable energy is produced.

Students expressed their appreciation for the experience, highlighting the knowledge they gained about sustainable practices in Egypt and the role of technology in supporting a more sustainable future. One student described the visit as “a beautiful and inspiring experience” that demonstrated “how nature and technology can work together to create a more sustainable future.” Other students shared that they enjoyed exploring the farm, learning about sustainable action in Egypt, and experiencing the contrast between the green fields and the desert sand.

These reflections highlight the value of field visits in bringing academic concepts to life while inspiring students to use their media and digital skills to create meaningful content that promotes environmental awareness and sustainability.

The Faculty of Mass Communication extends its sincere appreciation to the KarmSolar team for their excellent organization, warm welcome, generous hospitality, and valuable cooperation.

The visit reflects the Faculty’s commitment to integrating sustainability into education and providing students with practical experiences that encourage them to apply their media skills in support of environmental awareness and the Sustainable Development Goals.
