MSA Physical Therapy Students Explore Systematic Review Research

In line with the Faculty of Physical Therapy at MSA’s commitment to advancing students’ research competencies and promoting evidence-based practice, the Faculty organized a scientific workshop entitled “Systematic Review: From Research Question to Publication.” The workshop targeted fifth-year Physical Therapy students and interns, aiming to strengthen their research skills and encourage their active participation in scientific research and academic publication.

The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Asmaa Fouad, Assistant Professor of Biomechanics at the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University, in collaboration with Nada Osama, a fourth-year Physical Therapy student and systematic review practitioner.

The speakers introduced participants to the fundamental principles and practical steps involved in conducting a systematic review, from developing a focused research question and conducting a structured literature search to critically appraising and analyzing scientific evidence and preparing a manuscript for publication.

The workshop aimed to equip students with essential research skills, enhance their ability to identify and evaluate relevant scientific literature, and develop their critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and academic writing skills. It also highlighted the importance of applying reliable research evidence to clinical decision-making and professional Physical Therapy practice.

By engaging with experienced researchers and exploring the systematic review process, students gained a deeper understanding of how scientific evidence can contribute to professional practice and support informed clinical decisions. The workshop also encouraged students to become more actively involved in research activities and academic publication.

This initiative reflects the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, research development, and evidence-based Physical Therapy practice, while fostering a research-oriented learning environment and preparing future Physical Therapists to contribute to scientific advancement and the continuous improvement of healthcare services.
