Exploring Bollywood’s Visual Storytelling at MSA

The Faculty of Mass Communication at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) is pleased to host an academic seminar exploring the distinctive audiovisual storytelling language and cinematographic techniques of Bollywood, under the supervision of Dr. Hala El-Zahd, Journalism Department Coordinator and Film Critique Instructor.

The seminar featured Ms. Pallavi Singh Jain, a Master’s student in Poland, who delivered an interactive presentation on the distinctive narrative and visual approaches of Bollywood cinema.

During the session, Ms. Pallavi Singh Jain explored the audiovisual storytelling language characteristic of Bollywood, as well as the cinematographic techniques used in Indian cinema.

The discussion also examined the factors that have contributed to the global spread of Indian cinema and its transformation into a source of entertainment and enjoyment for audiences around the world.

The event brought together students from the Drama Club, as well as students enrolled in Film Critique (MCOM 205 A), Film Making (MCOM 245), and Video Journalism (MJ313), under the supervision of the relevant faculty members.

The seminar witnessed notable enthusiasm and active engagement from the attendees, providing students with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Bollywood’s storytelling approaches and cinematographic techniques.

Through such academic and interactive experiences, the Faculty of Mass Communication continues to provide students with opportunities to explore different approaches to visual storytelling and broaden their understanding of cinema and media practices.
