Specialized EMG Workshop Held on the Sidelines of the First International Physical Therapy Conference at MSA University

On the sidelines of the First International Physical Therapy Conference at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University), a specialized workshop on Electromyography (EMG) was conducted.

The workshop aimed to enhance the practical and clinical competencies of fourth- and fifth-year students, in addition to a number of practicing physiotherapists. It focused on hands-on training in the accurate and safe use of EMG devices, including precise placement of surface electrodes based on targeted muscle groups, and a comprehensive understanding of the examination process within a clinical setting—from patient preparation to recording electrical activity during rest and muscle contraction.

Participants were also introduced to the fundamentals of analyzing and interpreting muscle signals and linking findings to clinical conditions. The workshop further explored the differences between Surface EMG and Needle EMG in terms of application, accuracy, and clinical use, alongside the integration of biofeedback techniques to enhance muscle control during rehabilitation programs.

From a clinical perspective, the workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ ability to perform differential diagnosis between neurological and muscular disorders, and to utilize EMG findings in designing evidence-based, individualized rehabilitation programs. Special emphasis was placed on monitoring functional muscle recovery in cases such as peripheral nerve injuries and compression syndromes.

This workshop reflects a modern approach to integrating advanced technology into clinical practice, supporting accurate assessment and evidence-based therapeutic decision-making, while contributing to achieving the highest standards of quality in physical therapy services.
