The Computer and Systems Engineering Department at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) is pleased to invite students, academic staff, Teaching Assistants, and researchers to attend the CSE Seminar Series 2026, a three-week academic programme featuring three specialized seminars exploring recent developments in hardware acceleration, artificial intelligence, healthcare technologies, and cybersecurity.
The series is designed to connect theoretical engineering concepts with contemporary research and practical applications, while introducing participants to emerging areas that offer promising opportunities for postgraduate study, scientific research, and professional development.
Seminar 1: FPGA-Based CNN Inference Accelerator Design
Title: An Introduction to FPGA-Based CNN Inference Accelerator Design: Fundamentals and Future Research Directions

The first seminar will introduce the use of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to accelerate Convolutional Neural Network inference. Participants will explore accelerator architectures, processing elements, systolic arrays, dataflow strategies, memory hierarchies, quantisation, and FPGA development tools.
The session will also highlight potential future research directions, including the acceleration of transformer architectures and large language models, providing participants with insight into rapidly evolving research opportunities in AI hardware and high-performance computing.
Seminar 2: Automated ADHD Diagnosis Using Deep Learning

The second seminar will examine how deep learning and multimodal neuroimaging can contribute to automated ADHD classification. The session will explore the complementary roles of MRI and EEG data, along with the challenges associated with unpaired datasets.
Participants will also be introduced to self-supervised representation learning and adaptive fusion techniques as approaches for developing scalable computer-aided assessment frameworks, highlighting the growing intersection between artificial intelligence, healthcare, and biomedical technologies.

Through the three seminars, participants will gain exposure to rapidly developing areas of computer and systems engineering, explore possible postgraduate research topics and career pathways, and engage with colleagues through interdisciplinary academic discussion.
