Assistant professor Mohamed Salah El-Din Hodhod

Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University - Biotechnology English program in 2008. Got his master degree  at the Department of Botany and Microbiology, College of Science, King Saud University, Riyadh – Saudi Arabia in 2013. Where he has studied the Molecular systematics of one unique group of fungi, namely “Manglicolous fungi” (i.e., fungi inhabiting mangroves), through highlighting their ecology, diversity and molecular taxonomy.

He got his PhD. in 2019, in which his work was focused on microbial biotechnology via utilizing marine fungi and their biological activities against Multiple Drug Resistant Bacteria (MDRB).

His research interest is in the field of “Microbial Biotechnology”, there are two main research lines of focus; the first is the discovery line, in which he explore, describe, and characterize new microbial species on both morphological and molecular levels.

The second line is the application line, through the utilization of newly interesting species bioactive compounds directly (i.e., Using their crude extracts), or indirectly (i.e., via bio-nanotechnology) in solving major clinical and environmental issues.
