Research Ethics Guidelines
MSA University is steadfastly dedicated to the promotion of rigorous academic research and to guaranteeing that all research endeavours undertaken by University personnel, or on University grounds, involving human involvement or personal information are carried out in a manner that safeguards the honour, rights, well-being, security, and confidentiality of those concerned.
Faculty of Arts & Design Research Ethics Committee:
The committee, composed of the Dean of the Faculty and department heads, has the following key objectives:
- Maintain Ethical Research Standards: The committee is responsible for upholding rigorous ethical standards in all research conducted under the auspices of the Faculty.
- Researcher Training and Awareness: The committee ensures that researchers are properly trained and kept informed of the ethical considerations and best practices relevant to their work.
- Participant Protection: A core aim is to safeguard the wellbeing, rights, and interests of all individuals participating in research studies.
- Consideration of Stakeholder Interests: The committee takes into account the legitimate concerns and perspectives of other stakeholders, such as associated communities, that may be impacted by the research.
- Public Assurance: The committee's oversight provides reassurance to the general public and external regulatory bodies that ethical research practices are being upheld.
Researches that need review:
- Fieldwork or experiments involving human participants, this includes studies where researchers interact directly with or observe human research subjects.
- Use of personal data, research projects that collect, analyse or otherwise utilize personal information about individuals must undergo ethical review, to ensure appropriate data privacy and confidentiality measures are in place.
- Work with children or vulnerable individuals, studies involving minors or other vulnerable populations require special ethical consideration to protect the rights and wellbeing of these participants.
- Work with patients, staff or facilities, if the research will take place in Health service settings, or involve patients, staff or resources, additional approval from related institutions will be required.
