MSA Fashion Design Student Achieves Regional Victory in Bernhard H. Mayer Open Innovation Challenge

The Faculty of Arts and Design at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) proudly announces that Fatima Tarek El Sayed, a student from the Fashion Department, has won the prestigious Bernhard H. Mayer Open Innovation Challenge, marking a new achievement that highlights the creativity and excellence of MSA students on a regional and international level.

The challenge was launched by Bernhard H. Mayer, the renowned Swiss luxury brand known for its craftsmanship and heritage since 1871, inviting talented young designers across the Middle East and North Africa to create a special-edition timepiece inspired by Pink October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Among talented participants from across the region, Fatima Tarek El Sayed’s design stood out, reflecting the power of creativity, purpose-driven design, and the ability of fashion and design to communicate meaningful social messages.

Commenting on this achievement, Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at MSA University, highlighted the importance of connecting creative thinking with impactful causes, emphasizing that such collaborations provide students with valuable opportunities to experience how design can inspire empathy, awareness, and positive change.

This achievement reflects the Faculty of Arts and Design’s commitment to nurturing innovative designers who can transform creative concepts into impactful works that address contemporary challenges and engage with global design movements.

As the winner of the challenge, the winning design will be transformed into an authentic Bernhard H. Mayer watch, while the winner will also receive an exclusive experience in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, the heart of horology, to explore the craftsmanship and expertise behind the brand. In addition, part of the proceeds from the watch sales will support a local breast cancer association.

MSA University congratulates Fatima Tarek El Sayed and the Faculty of Arts and Design on this remarkable achievement, celebrating a milestone that reflects the talent, dedication, and creative vision of MSA students.
