To be a premier university platform that cultivates an international appreciation for cinematic and theatrical arts, fostering cultural dialogue and artistic innovation as vital tools for societal reflection, education, and growth.
Mission
Our mission is to establish a vibrant and inclusive community where students can deeply engage with the world of film and performance. The club is dedicated to showcase works of cultural artistic productions. Through screenings, performances, and discussions, the club aims to empower students to connect with global narratives and understand the profound impact of arts on society.
Goal:
Elevating Audience Engagement:
To transition participants from passive consumers of entertainment into active and engaged interpreters by equipping them with theoretical tools to systematically deconstruct, analyze, and critique cinematic and theatrical works. The club will also arrange film festivals showcasing different cultures and themes, while engaging each faculty according to its interests and majors. For example, the Faculty of Arts and Design can focus on fashion and visual design, Mass Communication on cinematography and filmmaking, and the Faculty of Languages on dialogues, scripts, and storytelling.
Developing Analytical Proficiency:
To foster rigorous critical thinking by training members to uncover, articulate, and evaluate the hidden messages, ideological layers, and nuanced concepts embedded within films, theatrical performances, and other forms of visual storytelling.
Facilitating Intellectual Discourse:
To host guided discussions, academic seminars, and peer-led debates that encourage members to challenge conventional interpretations and share diverse perspectives in a respectful and intellectually engaging forum.
Promoting Global & Cultural Awareness:
To expose students to a wide range of genres, artistic movements, and cultural traditions from around the world, broadening their cultural horizons and enhancing their understanding of diverse global human experiences. The club will organize film festivals featuring different cultures, themes, and cinematic traditions.
Encouraging Creative Literacy:
To bridge the gap between audience and creator by providing members with insights into the fundamentals of directing, screenwriting, set design, cinematography, and other creative disciplines, deepening their appreciation of the craftsmanship behind film and theatre.
Creative Projects:
To encourage members to create short films using accessible resources rather than advanced equipment. Projects can be based on a simple idea brought to life through thoughtful storytelling, careful videography, basic tools, and the creative use of AI.
Objectives:
● Screening 1 movie and/or a play each semester
● Hosting 2 debates and discussions about previously screened movies
and/or plays
● Hosting 1 workshop/training session on how to critique and interpret
movies and/or plays, for example, “Cinema as a reflection of society”
● Creating 1 artistic project annually to be used for a marketing event.
