Architecture department visited The Kharga Oasis

The final year students in the Architecture department visited The Kharga Oasis in Al-Wadi Al-Jadid Governorate as part of the requirements for the ‘Human Settlements in Developing Countries’ course. They were accompanied by Dr. Nermeen Abdeljalil and Dr. Mohamed Rafeek, the course supervisors.

The purpose of the visit was to connect academic content with real-life experiences and explore sustainable development strategies, population attraction plans, and existing residential communities in the Al-Wadi Al-Jadid Governorate, one of Egypt’s largest governorates in terms of area.

The team visited ‘The Ecofordable House’ in El Kharga, a fully executed house according to the collaboration protocol between MSA University and the governorate. They also inspected areas designated for population attraction projects, rural houses known as ‘Bashair Al-Khair’ in Al-Muneira area, a water recycling station, a central solar power station, a prototype flour mill, therapeutic tourism sites like ‘Bir Janaah Al-Tadawi’ and the salt cave. The team also visited the ceramics training centre, the productive family centre, the Hibis Temple, and the Bajoats tombs.
