Pharmacy Students Explore DNA Laboratories at NMEC

The Biochemistry Department at the Faculty of Pharmacy, MSA University, organized an applied scientific field trip to the specialized DNA Laboratories at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), providing Molecular Genetics students with a firsthand experience of advanced genomic science and its real-world applications.

During the visit, students attended expert-led scientific seminars and took part in a guided tour of the laboratories and their state-of-the-art facilities. The experience provided valuable insight into the laboratories’ contributions to the Egyptian Reference Genome Project and the role of genomic research in advancing healthcare.

Students also explored how mapping genetic blueprints and analyzing DNA variants can contribute to personalized medicine, optimize targeted drug therapies, and support the development of healthcare in Egypt.

The field trip provided students with an opportunity to connect their academic learning with practical scientific applications, deepen their understanding of molecular genetics, and gain greater awareness of the growing role of genomic science in shaping the future of healthcare.
