MSA University Celebrates the Success of the First Graduates of the MSc in Sustainable Architecture Design

October University for Modern Sciences & Arts (MSA) proudly celebrates the success of the first graduates of the Master of Science in Sustainable Architecture Design, marking a significant academic milestone for postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Engineering. This achievement reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to excellence in advanced architectural education and sustainable design.

The Master’s thesis defence sessions were held on 18 January 2026 at the Student Services Building (SSB), MSA University, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Nader El Bokl, President of MSA University, Prof. Dr. Nahed Sobhi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Tarek El Hossainy, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Omar Fawzy, Programme Leader of Postgraduate Studies at Architecture Department. The sessions were attended by respected faculty members, as well as friends and family, creating a distinguished and supportive academic environment.

Arch. Kareem Mohamed Abdelhamed Hafez Alhefnawy, a graduate and Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, MSA University, successfully defended his Master’s thesis entitled “Evaluating the Effect of Daylighting on Students’ Productivity at Egyptian Universities.” The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Hanan Mostafa Kamal Sabry, Professor of Architecture and Environmental Control, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shady Shawky Saifelnasr, Associate Professor, Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, MSA University.

The examination committee comprised Prof. Dr. Ahmed Atef El Desouky Faggal, Professor of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, as External Examiner, and Prof. Dr. Maysa Mahmoud Fathy Omar, Professor of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, MSA University, as Internal Examiner.

Arch. Toka Salem Gaber, a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, MSA University, presented her Master’s thesis entitled “Towards a Sustainable Design for Governmental Elementary Schools: Analysis of the Development Process to Improve the Thermal Performance of Classrooms.” The research was conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarek Abdelsalam Mohamed, Associate Professor, Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, MSA University, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Mostafa Eldemery, Professor at the National Housing and Building Research Centre (NHBRC), and Dr. Aya Magdi Awad, Assistant Professor, Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, MSA University.

The thesis was examined by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khairy Amin, Professor of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Shubra, Benha University, as External Examiner, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. May Ebaid, Associate Professor, Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, MSA University, as Internal Examiner.

Following comprehensive academic discussion and evaluation, the examination committee recommended the award of the Master of Science degree in Sustainable Architecture Design to both candidates with full merit and distinction, in recognition of the quality, and relevance of their research contributions.
