Dear Students,
We are delighted to welcome both new and returning students to the Libraries of October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA). Wishing you all a successful and fulfilling academic year ahead.
Across campus, we have two main libraries with a primary goal to support education and research by providing the latest information resources in various formats, organized for easy access. These libraries are committed to staying at the forefront of information management, storage, retrieval, and transmission to best serve our students and researchers.

Our Services
- Library Catalogue:
All information is searchable and retrievable via the automated library catalog (OPAC). Search the Koha Library catalogue by title, author, subject, or keyword. Combine multiple search fields for precise results. Library staff are available for assistance. - Information Desk:
Get help with book availability or subject-specific information, including articles and resources. - Study Spaces:
Quiet study areas are available on the third and fourth floors, with an electronic library lab on the second floor of Building L. No talking or phone use allowed. - Computers & Printing:
100 computers are available for academic use, along with printing and scanning services. - Online Databases:
Access a variety of academic databases for research and learning. - Smart Library Access:
MSA Library offers a QR Code service for easy access to the Smart Library Catalog via smartphones. It Requires a device with a camera, web browser, and QR Code reader app (available on Google Play & App Store).
- Shelf QR Codes:
Library shelves are equipped with QR codes linked to the library’s automated system. Users can instantly access book and periodical bibliographic data, book covers, and graduation project details across faculties (readable, audible, or visual formats).
Our Policies
General Policies
🔇 Quiet Environment:
- Talking and mobile phone conversations are prohibited.
- Set phones to silent before entering.
🚫 Food & Drinks:
- No eating, drinking, or smoking in the library.
- Dispose of waste in the provided bins.
💻 Computer Use:
- Library computers are for academic purposes only.
📖 Book Borrowing:
- Books must be officially borrowed and stamped with a return date before leaving.
📚 Book Shelving:
- Do not re-shelve books; leave them on tables for library staff to handle.
Borrowing Books Policy
🆔 User Registration:
- Register at the Library Circulation Desk with your University ID.
📚 Borrowing Limits:
- Students: Borrow up to 2 books for 7 days, renewable for another 7 days unless reserved by another user.
- Staff: Borrow up to 3 books for one semester.
🔄 Renewals:
- Renew by bringing the book to the library for re-stamping. Books may be recalled at any time during the extended loan period.
🚫 Restrictions:
- Do not pass borrowed books to others.
- CDs may not be borrowed.
📦 Reserved Books:
- Collect reserved books by 12:00 PM on the second working day after return, or they will be returned to the shelves.
📜 Lost or Damaged Books:
- Users are responsible for the full replacement or repair cost.
⏱ Late Returns:
- Fines apply unless due to illness or unavoidable circumstances (proof required).
💸 Fine Structure:
- First Week: LE 2 per book per overdue day.
- Overdue > 4 Weeks: Book considered lost. Charged cost + 25% of the current price (minimum LE 20).
- Unpaid Fines: Added to semester fees.
📅 Examination Period:
- Penalty fees doubled 4 weeks before and during exams.
- Penalties also doubled for books recalled by the library but not returned.
