The committee was chaired by Engineer Hisham Darwish, Head of the Construction and External Relations Sector at the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Dr. Ahmed El Gabry, Dean of the Institute for Building Materials Research and Quality Control at the National Center for Housing and Building Research, and a group of specialized engineers accompanied them.
Engineer Hisham Darwish has addressed his great admiration for the architectural design of the housing unit, the construction systems, the artistic forms, and the natural economic materials used in it, and he believes that they are very suitable for application in the rural house project as the unit and the systems followed are closely in line with the nature of the climate, materials and social life in the governorate.
The project has achieved all the requirements of the Egyptian codes according to the tests conducted by the National Center for Housing and Building Research on the building in terms of building unit quality, structural safety, thermal and acoustic comfort, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Gabry, Dean of the Institute of Materials.
In addition, the compressed interlocking brick mixture from sandy soil and the procedures for its production and treatment obtained a patent from the Egyptian Patent Office at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in December 2020, and the unit design received the first prize for innovation in the axis of green urbanization and creative architecture organized by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology at the Cairo Exhibition Fourth International Innovation.
