Participation for the fourth consecutive year in the "Turathna Exhibition" in the "Henna Wood" Competition

Participation for the fourth consecutive year in the "Turathna Exhibition" in the "Henna Wood" Competition by the Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA)

In line with the directives of His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to work towards the necessity of advancing and promoting the handicraft and heritage sector and preserving the Egyptian identity, as well as the need to build brands and encourage youth participation in the development plans of handicrafts and heritage, for which the Arab Republic of Egypt is famous, the Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) organized a competition to develop new products from the material "Henna Wood" under the auspices of Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as part of the agency's initiative to develop craft clusters and the experimental phase.

Students from October University for Modern Sciences and Arts - Faculty of Arts and Design secured first place in the competition among Five universities nationwide that participated in the competition which are Helwan University, Minia University, Beni Suef University, and Benha University. The winning products will be displayed at "Turathna" Exhibition from October 8th to 11th at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.

The MSMEDA organized a specialized competition to develop heritage craft products from "Henna Wood" in the village of Meet Kenana, located in Toukh, Qalyubia Governorate. The competition lasted five continuous months, during which the team designed a new range of products manufactured using Egyptian "Henna Wood." These products varied in size, use, wood processing methods, and their utilization of natural materials. All the products are environmentally friendly. A new visual identity was also created for the projects based on these products, aiming to market the new products with a fresh perspective, with the goal of transforming heritage crafts into a sophisticated local industry and supporting the export of these products. The name "Henna Nile" was given to them, as henna is produced in Aswan in southern Egypt, where the hot tropical climate is suitable for its cultivation, and the entire manufacturing process takes place in Meet Kenana village, symbolizing the integration between them.
