Within the framework of the activities of the first day, the opening session was held, chaired by Dr. Omar Othman, The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Engineer Ghada Labib, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Institutional Development, and Prof. Dr. Magi El-Halawany, Professor of Media and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Media Technology (CIC).
After the opening session, the first panel discussion was held under the title "Empowering Youth in the Media Between Practitioners and Academics”. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Hassan Emad Mekkawy, Former Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University and a member of the National Media Authority. Moreover, the session was led by Dr. Noha Samir, a lecturer at the Faculty of Mass Communication MSA University.
The keynote speakers from the academics in the panel discussion who participated were:
- Prof. Dr. Amal El-Ghazzawi, Dean of the Canadian Higher Institute for Media Technology.
- Prof. Dr. Dina Orabi, Director of the Media production program at El Galala University.
- Prof. Dr. Sohair Saleh, Dean of the Higher International Institute of Media at Al Shorouk Academy.
- Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz El Sayed, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Beni Suef University.
- Prof. Dr. Heba El Semry, Dean of the Faculty of Media and Public Relations at Al Nahda University.
- Prof. Dr. Heba Shaheen, Professor at the Faculty of Digital Media at Ain Shams University.
The keynote speakers from the practitioners in the panel discussion who participated were:
- Mr. Khaled El-Atreby, Director and head of the Egyptian satellite channel.
- Mr. Amr Nada, Managing Director of Leap Advertising Agency.
- Mr. Emad El-Din Hussein, Editor-in-Chief of El-Shorouk El-Masrya Newspaper.
- Producer Hisham Soliman, Executive Director of the United Media Services Company for the Affairs of the Artistic Production Sector.
Late Great Scholar Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Alam El-Din, Professor at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University was also honored.
Furthermore, on the second day of the eighth scientific conference, two dialogue sessions were held in parallel to discuss the research of the participants in the conference.
The first session came under the title “Media and Identity Support among Youth” which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Salwa El Awadly, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University for Education and Student Affairs and was commented on Prof. Dr. Rabab Abdel Rahman, Vice Dean of the International Higher Institute for Mass Communication at Al-Shorouk Academy. The session was moderated by Dr. Yasmine Ahmed, a lecturer at the Faculty of Mass Communication, MSA University.
The research participants of the session were:
- Assistant Prof. Dr. Nesreen Abdel Aziz, with a research entitled "The Egyptian public's reliance on educational and cultural competition programs on Egyptian and Arab satellite channels as a source of information and cultural awareness."
- Dr. Ehab Hamdy, with a research entitled "The Impact of Television Coverage of the World Youth Forum on the Culture of Voluntary Work among Egyptian Youth",
- Dr. Noha Samir, with a research entitled "Factors Affecting the Audience's Perception and Response to the Roles of Evil in Modern Drama.
- Dr. Eman Khattab and Dr. Monia Ibrahim, with a co-authored paper entitled "The Role of Official Initiatives Pages in Raising Awareness and Supporting Identity among Youth.”
- Ms. Eman El-Ahl and student Mirna Hossam, with a research titled "The Role of Social Networking Sites in Shaping the Cultural Identity of Egyptian Youth.”
- Third year student Farah Islam Fathy, with a research titled "The Impact of News Media on University Students' Perception of Climate Change Issues" under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Amira Abdel Monem at the Faculty of Mass Communication at MSA University.
The second session was held in parallel under the title “Youth Empowerment and Digital Media”. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Wessam Nasr, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication for Postgraduate Studies and Research at Cairo University, and commented on by Prof. Dr. Nermin Azraq, Professor of Journalism at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University and Head of the English Language Division. The session was led by Dr. Reham Salah, Lecturer at the Faculty of Mass Communication at MSA University.
The participants of the session were:
- Prof. Dr. Maha Tarabishi and Prof. Rolan Hazem, with a research titled "The Role of Social Media Campaigns in Empowering Youth in Light of the Sustainable Development Goals."
- Assistant Prof. Dr. Fatima Shaaban, with a research titled "University Youth's Perception of the Risks of Exposure to News Content Through Communication Sites."
- Dr. Noha Adel, with a research titled "Fashion Bloggers and Young Women: An Intertwined Relationship Governed by the Electronic Word of Mouth.”
- Dr. Rania Shaaban, with a research entitled "The Impact of Social Networking Sites on Empowering Youth in Egypt.”
- Assistant Lecturer Amira Abdel Moneim Abdel Fattah, with a research titled "Egyptian Youth's Perception of Employment Prospects on Social Networking Sites: An Experimental Study.”
- Ms. Ruba Azzam, and Ms. Nada Bahgat, in a joint research entitled "The Impact of Creative Online Schools on Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship in Egypt."
The second day of the conference also witnessed the activities of the second panel discussion under the title “Models from Egypt's Youth: Success and Entrepreneurship”, where the session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sami El Sharif, Dean of the Faculty of Information at the Modern Technology and Information University (MTI), and the session was led by Assistant Prof. Dr. Eman Zahra, Chair Department of Public Relations and Advertising at the MSA Faculty of Mass Communication.
The official spokespersons were:
- Ms. Fatima Selim, a member of the Human Rights Committee in the House of Representatives.
- Engineer Ahmed Amgad, Head of the Community Responsibility Sector - Decent Life Initiative.
- Ms. Rana Raeis, Ambassador of the United Nations Country Youth Initiative.
- Ms. Sandra Samir, the professional tennis player and Olympic champion.
- Ms. Radwa Kamel, Director of Marope Agency for Advertising.
- Mr. Ahmed Saqr, Head of Business Unit at Breadfast Company.
On the sidelines of the conference, a team from the Faculty of Mass Communication at MSA University conducted a workshop entitled "The future is yours: youth empowerment", for students who are interested in all faculties of the university under the supervision of Dr. Dina Talaat, a lecturer at the Faculty of Mass Communication.
The activities of the conference ended with the closing session.
