October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) pursues an approach that outlines strategies that adopt sustainable development issues, the State Plan 2030, and the determinants and goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development (SDGs) announced in 2015, also known as the Global Goals, as a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet from global warming and the effects of climate change, and ensure that all human beings enjoy peace and prosperity to reach the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

 

Dr. Nawal El-Degwy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Khairy Abdel Hamid, President of the University, adopted this approach to improve lifestyles and human needs. The projects of the Interior Design Department this year came as a continuation of what began 6 years ago, and in this context, Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh - Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design stated that the graduation projects this year came under the title: "Practical Solutions in Light of Climate Change"

 

The projects focused on confronting the phenomenon of climate change, and this topic has been presented to the scientific departments since the beginning of the fall semester 2023 within the framework of achieving the sustainable development goals in light of the Egypt Vision 2030 and sustainable development strategies, where the projects varied and the projects of the Interior Design Department focused on choosing sites to serve many governorates within the Egypt, which include Fayoum, the tenth of Ramadan and Safaga, in addition to the Sixth of October City. Where they faced new challenges with climate change, these projects Reflect innovation and adaptability to environmental transformations. By selecting local environmental materials, using renewable energy technologies, and designing spaces that interact positively with the surrounding environment.

 

While the graduation projects of the students of the Graphic Department of the Faculty of Arts and Design, MSA University On focusing on projects mainly on confronting the phenomenon of climate change in addition to a variety of topics that support the achievement of sustainable development goals. To serve the various orientations of the Egyptian state and the needs of the Egyptian society at several levels. Especially those related to the quality of education, citizen health, heritage preservation and sustainable cities, without neglecting awareness about the regulation of consumption and the design of packaging that helps achieve this goal. These projects reflect innovation and adaptability to societal and environmental transformations. By choosing local environmental materials and design that supports positive interaction with the surrounding environment.

Promotion of Egyptian products and handicrafts:

  • Preserving the Tally craft
  • Egyptian Jewelry
  • Egyptian (fruits and vegetables dried under the sun)

  • Technological Games City for Intelligence Development
  • Exploitation of banana waste

 

The graduation projects of the students of the Department of Fashion Design at the Faculty of Art and Design, MSA University , included many fashion designs for the summer and spring season of 2024, which focus on practical solutions to climate change such as:

  • An inspiring collection of Nubian heritage with contemporary designs that take into account theenvironment.
  • A group that highlights the problem of green misinformation and cognitive disorder in the fashion industry.
  • Spring-Summer 2024 functional clothing collection inspired by Libya floods.
  • Sustainable clothing collection for spring and summer 2024 inspired by elephants .
  • A clothing collection for plus sizes that combines comfort, fashion and environmental sustainability.
  • The spring-summer 2024 clothing collection is influenced by traditional heritage.
  • The spring-summer 2024 clothing collection is inspired by the Bedouin lifestyle of Egypt.
  • An inextricable elegance collection inspired by valleys and cacti taking into account climate changes.

 

The students of the Department of Cinema and Theater presented a distinguished group of graduation projects for the academic year 2024, and their topics varied, some of which shed light on the impact of technological development on human societies in the future, while some topics relied on highlighting the concept of societal transformations in Egypt and changing cultural and moral concepts under the influence of randomness, and we also note that some topics adopted the idea of highlighting the impact of epidemics on contemporary man and the extent of suffering to which he is exposed. All these concepts were introduced through cinematic approach. Or theatrical designs for scenes and dramatic characters in a distinct creative plastic framework.

  • Quality education and partnership to achieve the goal addressed in the novel "Ekadoli" by Hanan Lasheen
  • Reducing inequality through visual adaptation of Li Yongdu's novel "The Bird That Drinks Tears."
  • Eradicating hunger and poverty and spreading peace and justice as depicted in the novel "Attia Agency" by Khairy Shalabi.
  • Discuss the quality of education through the novel "The Spider" by Mustafa Mahmoud.
  • Innovation in industry and infrastructure is discussed through Amr Abdel Hamid's novel "The Land of Zikola"
  • Good health and well-being are depicted in the film adaptation of José Saramgo's novel "Blindness".
  • Quality education and poverty eradication through the novel "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
  • Peace and Justice through the novel "Refinement of Death" by Tawfiq al-Hakim.
  • Industrial innovation and infrastructure are adapted in H.G. Wells' novel Time Machine.
  • Good health through the novel "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides.
