The students worked on implementing prototypes of their innovative solutions for the ten tracks identified within the hackathon events, which are smart buildings, smart facilities, smart parks, smart transportation/traffic, smart hospitals, smart recycling, smart monitoring, smart energy, smart management, and smart schools/universities.
It is noteworthy that Benha University is organizing the first hackathon, at the level of the Republic, on the topic of smart cities. Its activities were held from 24 to 26 March under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; And in cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Amazon Web Services and El Sewedy Digital.
The winning teams in the hackathon received financial prizes totaling 100,000 Egyptian pounds, provided by Benha University; in addition to valuable prizes provided by Amazon Web Services and El Sewedy Digital. The winners will also have a great opportunity to market their innovations to Egyptian private universities The winning teams from MSA University in the Smart Cities Hackathon Competition
1. Omega Hydroponic Team
The Omega Hydroponic team won second place in the Smart Utilities track, and the prize value is 3000 Egyptian pounds. They also won the award for the best project in the use of financial resources in smart cities for the Smart Utilities track
