In addition, the demand for accessible food products has increased across the globe due to changing lifestyles and high disposable incomes. Key players in the industry are focusing on improving labeling and packaging of their products in order to maintain transparency of ingredients sourced to make end products. Starch and Glucose are essential and hence a rise in demand is expected to rise in the next decade, with applications ranging from baked goods, snacks, and beverages, to roles as a fat replacer and texture enhancer.
30 students and 2 members of the assisting staff visited the factory, and were given an insightful session on the development and production processes involving starch and glucose, in addition to an overview and live-tour of the facility and production line.
The valuation of food starch marketing is anticipated to reach US$ 40.9 Bn by 2032! And with that note the development of novel research proposals related to this flourishing industry was of particular interest.
The field trip was well received by the students and staff, and the course team plans to provide new perspectives to offering sustainable solutions with high growth prospects.
