Fashion design Graduation projects - Spring 2024

"Graduation projects for students in the fashion design Department at the Faculty of Arts and Design, MSA University, are titled ‘Practical Solutions in the Face of Climate Change.’ These projects focused on addressing climate change phenomena.

Professor Dr. Tarek Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, introduced this topic to the scientific departments since the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester.

The aim was to achieve sustainable development goals in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and sustainable development strategies.

 

The fashion design graduation projects from the Faculty of Arts and Design at MSA University, focusing on "Practical Solutions in the Face of Climate Change":

 

  1. "Nubian Heritage inspired contemporary SS24 ready to wear collection": A collection inspired by Nubian heritage with environmentally-conscious contemporary designs.
  2. "Uncovering Green washing and cognitive dissonance in fashion": A collection that sheds light on the problems of greenwashing and cognitive dissonance in the fashion industry.
  3. "Functional ready to wear Spring Summer Collection inspired by Libyan Flood 2024": A functional spring/summer 2024 collection inspired by the Libyan floods.
  4. "Sustainable ready to wear SS24 collection inspired by elephants": A sustainable spring/summer 2024 collection inspired by elephants.
  5. "Plus size ready to wear collection: Trendy comfort and the intersection of durability and eco friendliness for SS24": A plus-size collection that combines fashionable comfort with sustainability and eco-friendliness.
  6. "Influential traditional spring summer 2024 ready to wear": A spring/summer 2024 collection influenced by traditional heritage.
  7. "Ready to wear SS24 collection: Bedouin lifestyle inspired fashion from Egypt": A spring/summer 2024 collection inspired by the Bedouin lifestyle in Egypt.
  8. "Timeless Elegance inspired by canyons and cacti adopting climate change": A timeless elegance collection inspired by canyons and cacti, while considering climate change.

 

The projects were evaluated by a scientific and technical committee of senior professors from art colleges in Egypt, including:

 

  • Prof. Dr. Iman Abdullah, Professor of Design and Dean of the Higher Institute of Applied Arts, 6th of October City.
  • Prof. Dr. Hadeel Farhat, Professor of Design, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, and Head of the Fashion Department - MSA University.
  • Designer Anne Marie, Head of Creative at Bishara for Fashion
  • Dr. Walaa Salem, Lecturer at the Fashion Department at MSA University.
  • Dr. Mohamed Khafagi, Fashion Program Director, NGU University.
