In this workshop, the students got all the coverage they need to simply brainstorm creative ideas that flourish effortlessly and were provided fresh perspectives to the status quo as our guest unleashed essential tips and tricks for translating the project flow from word form to image form. In addition, he emphasized that each image on the storyboard needs to include enough information which means that when someone who has never read the script can look at it and know what’s going on. But at the same time, it shouldn’t contain too much information, as that will crowd out the relevant details.
Moreover, Ahmed also stressed the notion of how students can unleash their ideas through a structured storyboard and how imperative it is that the images should reflect the script, on top of that he explained that motion is central to these images: the motions of the characters and objects within the scene, as well as the motion of the camera observing it. For example, instead of bogging down the description box with tedious details of every action, let the image communicate the motion of a scene. Arrows are a simple and recognizable way to show motion or progression.
Ahmad Yousry strengthened students’ academic motivation and self-confidence, and he encouraged them to work effectively.
Needless to mention, the workshop had an extremely positive impact on the three subsets of skills for innovation including technical skills, thinking and creativity skills, behavioural and social skills and professional ethics.
Finally, the Cinema and Theatre department would like to thank expert Ahmad Yousry for his generous contributions to the Faculty of Arts and Design, MSA University.
