Biotechnological solutions for global food crisis Symposium

The Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) has proudly hosted and organized the "Biotechnological solutions for global food crisis Symposium". The symposium took place on Saturday the 21st of October at MSA campus. The symposium aimed to highlight diverse and innovative research efforts focused on finding sustainable solutions to the food crises around the world through an array of stimulating talks delivered by 10 top notch speakers in the field.

 

The opening started with Prof. Ayman Diab's speech detailing all possible innovative biotechnological methods for food production and solving the global food and feed crises. The symposium continued with a series of interesting sessions highlighting the sustainable biotechnological approaches in addressing climate change and food shortages which lead to food crises. Other sessions discussed important topics such as the challenges of food scarcity and possible bioinformatics tools to overcome nutritional deficiencies while others tackled the applications of nanotechnology in fertilization, pest control, and crop breeding nationally and internationally.

 

The symposium has also succeeded in covering several topics including Single cell protein, Cellular Agriculture, CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology, Aquaculture Innovation, Biofortification, Synthetic Biology, Precision Agriculture and Biotechnological promising solutions.
