The students of the faculty have presented their results from field surveys on antimicrobial resistance in the surrounding community and send warning messages about the uprising resistance and the dangerous effects on the Egyptian community health. The have also produced short movies for awareness about the mechanism of resistance of several bacterial infections.
The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Nawal El Degwy, head of board of trustees who expressed her happiness of looking to such clever young faces. She also emphasized on the important role of young people in awareness regarding health care.
Prof. Dr. Hanan Ellaithy, Dean of the faculty has pointed to the effort of the Egyptian state to fight communicable diseases such as HCV and efforts to prevent and provide prophylaxis from other communicable diseases. She has also sent an important message about the expected mortality rate increase from antimicrobial resistance.
Dr. Omar AbouElatta, WHO Office, Egypt has presented an informative presentation about the global and Egyptian plan to fight antimicrobial resistance by different ways and how urgent that everyone should be a part of the plan. He said that this type of community service by the students and awareness effort should be a model for others to follow.
Finally, Associate Prof. Dr. Yassin Nissan, Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry thanked the students for their efforts in participating in this effective activity.
According to the Egyptian state vision 2030 for treatment and prevention of communicable diseases and as a part of the community service role of the MSA University, The Faculty of Pharmacy has organized an event entitled “Antimicrobial Resistance: Warning Alert!!!” under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hana Ellaithy, dean of the faculty in the honorable presence of Dr. Omar AbouElatta, WHO Office, Egypt.
