Advances in Gene and Immune Therapy Conference
Faculty of Biotechnology had the honour to organise the first annual conference under the title of "Advances in Gene and Immune Therapy Conference" which was held in the SSB conference hall on Saturday the 10th of December.
 
The Conference aimed to shed light on the latest developments and the prospects of molecular medicine with a concentration on the fields’ potential to cure intractable diseases and fundamentally alter the trajectory of many other vexing illnesses, with a plethora of applications from personalized cancer therapies to vaccine development in infectious diseases.
 
There was a series of successful sessions to give us an insight on the future of medicine by tackling the following interesting topics:-
 
  • The relationship between artificial intelligence and medicine by Dr. Ali Essam Ebrahim; First Lieutenant in the Armed Forces College of Medicine.
  • Clinical applications in immunotherapy by Prof. Amr Shafik, Professor of Clinical Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University. Nuclear medicine by Prof. Cherine Wageeh, Professor of Nuclear Medicine, Cairo University and The Head of Nuclear Medicine Department in the Armed Forces College of Medicine.
 
In addition to trending topics such as
 
  • Immunotherapy related introductions by Prof. Mohsen Mokhtar, Professor of Clinical Oncology, Cairo University and President of CanSurvive Patient NGO.
  • Immune advances by Prof. Emad Hamada, Professor of Clinical Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.
  • Stem Cell therapies by Prof. Hisham Issa, Professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology, MSA University.
  • Gene therapy updates by Prof. Manal Elmasry, Professor of Clinical Pathology, Hematology, and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.
 
The conference showed an immense success in its first volume besides the full capacity of attendance from all the staff and students who enjoyed the scientific discussions.
