A cooperation between MSA & Egyptian Space Agency

October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) receives an educational satellite for students of the Faculty of Engineering under the auspices of the Egyptian Space Agency.

Within the framework of the fruitful cooperation between October University for Modern Sciences and Arts and the Egyptian Space Agency, MSA University provided an educational satellite that was developed by the Egyptian Space Agency to be a nucleus for the Space Innovation Lab at the Faculty of Engineering in order to spread and deepen the learning of satellite technology for students of the Faculty of Engineering and to create unique opportunities for students to understand and explore the design and methods of satellite and the consequent advanced technologies in connection with the space industry.

A distinguished delegation of engineers from the satellite testing laboratory for the installation of the satellite at the university attended from the Egyptian Space Agency:

Mr. Ahmed Samir Karim

Mrs. Sarah Mohamed Abdel Jalil

Mr. Wael Mahmoud

Mrs. Maha Helmy

Mrs. Nesma Yamani

The educational satellite has many characteristics as it:

- Explains the applications of satellites in the field of communications, remote sensing, and the effects of the space environment.

- Consists of a system to generate and manage electrical power through solar cells and batteries.

- Has a central processing system for controlling commands and data which has a guidance system to control the rotation and destination of the satellite through a simulator of the spinning wheel, magnetic torque and air compressors.

- Contains a system for transmitting and receiving wireless data with a receiving station in the s-band range,

- Has a space payload that includes an imaging camera for remote sensing applications, a communications system for satellite communications applications, a space environment system for magnetic field effects, a simulator for the effects of space radiation, a simulator for thermal effects on satellite components,

- Has a magnetic lift unit to simulate the flight and movement of the satellite in space.
