Program Aims: -

This program in Periodontologyย  is developed to provide dentists with the skills andย ย  knowledge to efficiently deliver a comprehensive management of periodontal diseaseย 

by providing opportunities to treat patients with modern periodontal techniques. including pre-prosthetic surgeries and oral implants

By the end of the course, the students should be able to:

  1. Professional comprehensive knowledge about the basic principles of Periodontology and dental implants .
  2. Identify the bidirectional relations between periodontal diseases & systemic health.
  3. Perform and evaluate different modalities of periodontal treatment & dental implants.ย 
  4. Exposure to continuous education for professional development
  5. Develop a considerable degree of knowledge about Methods of application methodologies of scientific research and the use of its various tools

completion of the following three requirements:

  1. Research Requirement
    • Each student must complete a research project aligned with the Faculty and Department research plan as a prerequisite for obtaining the Masterโ€™s degree.
    • Students are eligible to register their thesis project after successful completion of the second semester.
    • A scientific paper derived from the thesis must be published in a peer-reviewed international journal with an impact factor.
    • The public defense of the thesis may not take place earlier than 12 months following the approval of the Faculty Council for thesis registration.
  2. Coursework Requirement
    • Each program comprises a defined set of courses, with a minimum requirement of 80 credit hours over six semesters.
    • The maximum number of credit hours that a student may register in any Fall or Spring semester is 21 credit hours.
    • All courses must be successfully completed in order to qualify for the award of the Masterโ€™s degree.
    • The courses are designed in alignment with the selected external reference standards (benchmarking) of the program.
  3. Practical Training and Scientific Activities Requirement
    • Practical training and scientific activities constitute an integral component of the Masterโ€™s degree.
    • Each Department is responsible for preparing its training program and assigning credit hours to each activity.
    • A minimum threshold for each activity is established to ensure the achievement of the intended learning outcomes of the various study programs.
    • Students must document all training activities in a Logbook, which is verified and approved by the Head of Department and the Faculty Administration.
    • Students will not be permitted to sit for examinations until they have fulfilled the minimum required practical and scientific activities.
