Human Rights in the University Environment: Building a Safe, Inclusive, and Respectful Educational Climate

The Faculty of Physical Therapy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) organized an awareness seminar titled “Human Rights in the University Environment: Building a Safe, Inclusive, and Respectful Educational Climate”, as part of activating the cooperation protocol with Sudamix for Sustainable Development, and under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Olfat Diab, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Therapy.

The seminar was delivered by Counselor Ahmed Abdelrahman Abu Douma, within the framework of MSA’s commitment to fostering an ethical and participatory educational environment, and supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

During the session, several key themes were addressed, including:

  • Promoting awareness of human rights principles within the university campus
  • Exploring the practical implications of human rights in academic life, such as freedom of expression, non-discrimination, and academic integrity
  • Discussing the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on human rights
  • Providing practical tools for building safe platforms for dialogue and enhancing communication and conflict management skills

The seminar witnessed active engagement from students and attendees, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of human rights as a foundation for a healthy and respectful university community.

This initiative reaffirms MSA’s educational and societal role, and its continuous efforts to embed the values of respect, justice, and shared responsibility within the academic environment, while preparing students to become responsible and ethically aware members of society.
