Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Campaign

Within the context of raising awareness of autism spectrum disorder,,,

 

The Faculty of Biotechnology organized an awareness campaign on how to deal with autism spectrum disorder and the importance of psychiatry cooperation in order to reach a healthy environment suitable for children and university youth who suffer from this disease.

 

A number of awareness lectures were given by specialists in the field of the autism spectrum, as follows:

 

  • The first lecture: "Demonstrating the behavior of autism and how it can be adapted" by Dr Nahla Kandil, MA in Special and Inclusive Education, University of London and MA in Mental Health, University of Jordan.
  • The second lecture: "Social communication problems and characteristics associated with high-functioning autism in adults." by Dr Amir Saudi, PhD in Mental Health and Psychological Counseling, Ain Shams University.
  • The third lecture: "Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder in Relation to Speech" by Dr Yasmine Hamza, Assistant Professor of Speech - Institute of Hearing and Speech.

 

A competition revolving around the previous lectures was also held among the students, and the winners got free tickets provided by the Trapped escape room

 

At the end of the campaign, the students distributed awareness leaflets about the autism spectrum. The participating faculty, staff members and students were keen to take a souvenir photo wearing the blue colour designated for the campaign.
