MSA University Successfully Hosted Workshop on Carbon Footprint and Sustainable Development
October University For Modern Sciences And Arts (MSA) recently organized a pivotal workshop titled: “Climate Change and Carbon Footprint: Tools for Calculating, Verifying, and Reporting Carbon Footprints,” emphasizing the role of Egyptian universities in environmental protection and combating climate change.
The workshop was led by Dr. Nour Shafik El-Gendy, Professor of Environmental Sciences and General Supervisor of Quality, Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health at MSA, in collaboration with the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS). Distinguished attendees included Dr. Khaled Sufi, Chairman of EOS and President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Prof. Dr. Khairy Abdel-Hamid, The President of the University, and Eng. Engy Mansour, General Manager of the Human Resources Department at MSA.
– The workshop aimed to raise awareness among MSA staff and students on key topics, including:
- The issue of climate change and its environmental indicators.
- Carbon footprints of institutions and relevant standards.
- Tools for calculating, verifying, and reporting carbon footprints.
- Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) of products. Principles, requirements, and guidelines of ISO 14067 for estimating and reporting Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP).
This initiative aligns with MSA University’s environmental protection strategy and its commitment to fostering sustainable development through its three core pillars: environment, society, and economy. By implementing strategies to reduce its carbon footprint, MSA aspires to become a green university with a clean and sustainable environment.
