Biotechnology Students Explore Industry Applications
The Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) continues to strengthen students’ connections with the industry and enhance their learning through hands-on experiences. As part of the “Industrial Projects” course, students participated in two educational field trips, providing them with firsthand exposure to the real-world applications of biotechnology.
The first field trip was to Juhayna, a leading Egyptian company renowned for its high-quality dairy products and natural beverages. Students had the opportunity to observe the company’s advanced production processes, learn about quality standards, and explore the innovative technologies used in the industry.
For the second trip, a group of students, accompanied by faculty members, visited the Gezirat Al-Dahab Water Treatment Plant, where they gained in-depth knowledge of water purification processes, including sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. The visit also highlighted the importance of quality control measures and adherence to national and international standards to ensure safe drinking water and protect public health.
These field trips provided students with valuable practical insights, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. They also emphasized the vital role of biotechnology in various industries, including food production and environmental sustainability.
