The graduation projects discussion day at the Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) was a huge success, showcasing the individual projects of 257 students across more than 35 research venues, including the Baheya Foundation, QCAP, Nile Scans & Labs, and Cairo University, Faculty of Nanotechnology.
The Faculty was honored to welcome over 100 distinguished external examiners and supervisors, who noted significant improvements in the students’ performance year after year.
Our students have astonished us with their remarkable accomplishments in several competitions, securing 1st place in both the Q&A category and the science track, as well as 2nd place in the Entrepreneurship category and 3rd place in the Presentation category at the SOLE Competition. Additionally, they earned 3rd place in the Smart Innovation Competition for Young Leaders.
Moreover, our students received funding of 500,000 EGP for their RoboDoc project, which was featured in the Gen Z TV program on DMC. They also secured 15,000 EGP in funding from the Startup Olympics ISF Program. One student even won 1st place in the Sustainability track, earning 7,000 EGP, and 2nd place in the Beko track, receiving 7,500 EGP, for her presentation on Oxyggreen, an algae-based carbon sequestration system, at the 18th Undergraduate Research Forum at Nile University.
Additionally, our students uploaded new gene sequences to the NCBI database and submitted five innovative research papers that are currently under review in high-impact journals, including Scientific Reports and the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules.
Proudly, the students showcased a variety of graduation project prototypes and products. These included detection strips for antioxidants, dental prosthetics enhanced with natural antimicrobial properties, an oral rinse formulation featuring different essential oils, the creation of an herbal antioxidant beverage, the production of antioxidant-enriched energy balls using peach kernel powder, the formulation of a natural antioxidant cream, the use of white pepper extract to develop a novel functional guava beverage, and the development of platelet-rich plasma eye drops.
Overall, the event was a fantastic celebration of the students’ achievements, marking the successful completion of this important chapter in their lives.
