COMPETITIVE FEATURES:

The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is distinguished by a set of competitive features that make it unique among other pharmaceutical sciences programs offered by Egyptian universities. These features include the following:

  • British Partnership: The Faculty of Pharmacy at MSA University is a pioneer in obtaining academic accreditation from the University of Greenwich, UK. Accordingly, graduates of the Faculty receive a dual award: a British degree from the University of Greenwich and an Egyptian degree accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities.
  • Joint Academic Boards: The Faculty holds regular Board of study with the University of Greenwich to discuss student matters, assess academic outcomes, and apply corrective actions when necessary.
  • Program Design: The PharmD program is structured in accordance with the regulations of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities (ESCU) and the standards of its British partner through a formal Validation Agreement with the University of Greenwich. Fulfiiling the requirement of Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS) and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in the United Kingdom to ensure adherence to international standards of quality and education. The program aims to provide students with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed for diverse professional paths in pharmacy. The program extends over six years—five academic years followed by a one-year internship in leading pharmaceutical sectors and hospitals. The Faculty integrates theoretical learning with practical experience to ensure the holistic preparation of graduates.
  • Infrastructure and Accreditation: The Faculty offers state-of-the-art laboratories and a high-quality learning environment. MSA University and all its faculties have earned three ISO certifications:
  • ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) – ensuring systematic documentation and control of laboratory procedures.
  • ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) – guaranteeing environmental responsibility across all operations.
  • ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) – issued by the British Standards Institution (BSI), confirming the safety and quality of laboratories and the Bioequivalence Center.
All ISO certifications are renewed annually and revalidated every three years.

  • Graduation Research Project: The Faculty of Pharmacy at MSA University was the first in Egypt to implement a comprehensive graduation project for fifth-year students. This project serves as a cornerstone of scientific training, where each student practices both theoretical and experimental aspects of research—from selecting the topic and collecting data to performing experiments, analyzing results, writing the report, and delivering a formal presentation. Projects are evaluated by internal and external examiners, including representatives from the British partner and major pharmaceutical companies. Many student projects are published in local and international conferences.
  • Extracurricular Activities: The faculty offers various extracurricular student activities, such as the Model World Health Organization (MSA-WHO), which is based on placing participants in simulated scenarios (such as a pandemic outbreak, shortage of medical resources, or inequalities in healthcare systems). Participants are required to make strategic decisions to address these crises while considering their impacts on public health and sustainable development. Another example is the activity of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (EPSF), which organizes events aimed at developing pharmaceutical practice and enhancing the pharmacist’s role in community service. In addition, the federation contributes to improving the quality of the profession through the organization of professional events and specialized workshops.
  • Interprofessional Education (IPE): The Faculty implements IPE in collaboration with the Faculties of Dentistry and Physical Therapy, aligning with the 2022 objectives of the Egyptian Health Council to promote professional integration and safe healthcare practices among health disciplines.
  • Distinguished Academic Staff: The Faculty employs a distinguished body of academic staff and experts representing diverse disciplines, with nearly 70% holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE).
  • Teaching and Learning Strategies: The program adopts modern, student-centered teaching strategies emphasizing self-directed learning, interactive education, and the integration of artificial intelligence applications within lectures and laboratory sessions.
  • Training and Employment Opportunities: The Faculty has established collaboration protocols with leading pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy chains, and hospitals to provide students with practical training (up to 700 placements annually) and potential employment opportunities upon graduation. Field visits to industrial, clinical, and research facilities further strengthen practical competencies.
  • Academic Support System: The Faculty adopt an academic advising system to identify high-achieving and underperforming students early and to provide personalized support.
  • Research Ethics Committee: The Faculty’s Ethics Committee promotes ethical awareness, integrity, and a safe research environment among students and staff members.
  • Facilities and Campus Design: The Faculty features modern lecture halls, laboratories, and classrooms equipped with advanced technology and built according to quality standards. The campus includes a Student Services Building (SSB) of 674 square meters, housing a cinema hall, meeting rooms, guest lounge, cafeteria, and restaurant, as well as a food court, printing centres, and ATMs.
  • Institutional Accreditation: The Faculty renewed its institutional accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) in 2022.
  • A dedicated Alumni Committee oversees continuous pharmaceutical education, entrepreneurship initiatives, and career development programs.
  • Distinguished Alumni: Several graduates of the PharmD program hold prestigious positions in pharmaceutical companies, manufacturing industries, hospitals, and governmental institutions, reflecting the academic and professional excellence of the program.
