
Re-ConD’25 International Competition Winners
We are pleased to announce the outstanding participation of students from the Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) in the 2nd Re-ConD’25 International Competition – “Re-evaluating Contemporary Design in Historical Context.”
The competition focused on the design of contemporary buildings within historically and culturally significant urban contexts. A total of 133 projects from around the world took part in this prestigious event, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey.
MSA University students from the Architectural Design 6 course participated with their proposals for a Contemporary Arts Center in the historic Al-Darb Al-Ahmar area of Cairo. Seven projects (individual and group) were nominated to represent the university in this international event.
🔹 Student Hadeel Zakaria won Second Place for her exceptional project and received a cash prize.
In addition, three projects received finalist rankings and Honorable Mentions, including:
- A team project by Nada Mohamed, Salma Nabil, Nancy Mazher, and Haneen Tarek
- A team project by Mariam Tarek and Dina Ashraf
- An individual project by Maria Yohana
Yassin Saber, one of the participating students, represented the university at the closing ceremony. He presented the shortlisted projects to the jury and accepted the award on behalf of his colleague, Hadeel Zakaria.

This achievement reflects the dedicated academic efforts of both students and faculty, and it highlights the excellence of the Architecture Department at MSA University in preparing graduates capable of developing contemporary design solutions within heritage contexts, successfully competing at the international level.
