MSA IPE Hub Organizes International Interprofessional Session and Workshop in Collaboration with Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan
Emphasizing the growing importance of international collaboration in interprofessional education, the Interprofessional Education Hub at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA IPE Hub), in partnership with the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, organized a specialized workshop in recognition of Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Month.
The workshop welcomed students and faculty members from the Faculties of Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Physical Therapy at MSA University. The event featured a distinguished international contribution from Professor Samah Hosny Nagib, Professor of Physical Therapy for Surgery and Burns at Cairo University and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan. Professor Samah delivered an advanced lecture offering in-depth insights into the pivotal role of physiotherapy in the comprehensive management of rheumatoid arthritis.
Throughout the workshop, rheumatoid arthritis was examined from a multi-disciplinary perspective—immunological, clinical, rehabilitative, oral health, and pharmacological. Scientific sessions, combined with interactive discussions, enabled students to engage with evidence-based approaches and explore the complexities of the condition.
Interprofessional student teams worked collaboratively on a case-based clinical scenario, enhancing their critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills while developing integrated management plans for a realistic patient case.
In the second phase of the event, students from the participating faculties attended a clinical round at the university’s Physical Therapy Clinic, where they observed real cases of patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. They analyzed differential diagnoses, reviewed clinical presentations, and proposed holistic, interprofessional treatment plans. This hands-on experience emphasized the essential role of collaborative practice in elevating the quality of patient-centered healthcare.
