Inspiring Innovation: Biotechnology Sessions at MSA University
The Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) organized a series of educational sessions aimed at fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and inspiring students to develop innovative research proposals.
The sessions began with Dr. Haiam M. Aboul-Ela, Associate Professor of Marine Biotechnology and Head of the Aquaculture Department at AASTMT. She delivered two insightful lectures on marine biotechnology innovations, highlighting applications in sustainable aquaculture, drug discovery, and environmental conservation, with special emphasis on SDG 14 (Life Below Water). She also provided practical guidance on securing STDF funding to support marine biotechnology research projects.
Following this, Dr. Ahmed Gomaa, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology, presented two sessions exploring prototyping principles and the multidisciplinary role of biotechnology in driving innovation. He showcased the Faculty’s Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) initiatives, including start-ups, patents, and industry collaborations.
Together, these sessions offered students valuable perspectives on both marine and industrial biotechnology, reinforcing the importance of cross-disciplinary approaches in addressing real-world challenges.
