- Saturday 12th of July, 2025 - Guest Speakers
Dr. Mahmoud Elsisi
Mahmoud Elsisi, Ph.D., IEEE Senior Member, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), Taiwan. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the Industry 4.0 Implementation Center, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), and Benha University in Egypt.
Dr. Elsisi received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Shoubra, Benha University, Egypt, in 2011, 2014, and 2017, respectively. His research focuses on reliable Internet of Things (IoT), predictive control, and machine learning to develop intelligent and resilient systems. His work integrates model predictive control, deep learning, fault diagnosis, and neural networks to optimize the performance, reliability, and security of IoT-based infrastructures, particularly in smart grids, renewable energy, autonomous vehicles, and cyber-physical systems.
In addition, Dr. El Sisi has secured over 15 million NTD in research grants, with over 60 publications in leading journals and an H-index of 40. He has made significant contributions to AI-driven energy systems, IoT-based environmental monitoring, and predictive maintenance. Dr. Elsisi actively mentors M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and has extensive experience bridging academia with industry applications.
Dr. El Sisi will be giving a talk under the title of ‘Reliable Internet of Things for Intelligent Systems: Integrating Predictive Control and Machine Learning’ on Saturday 12th of July 2025 from 10:00 -10:30 AM.
Eng. Ahmed Tarek
Eng. Ahmed Tarek is the Senior Director of Data Analytics & AI at Reso, where he leads a cross-functional team of AI engineers, data scientists, and BI analysts to build enterprise-scale analytics and generative-AI solutions. Over a 15-year career, he has held data-leadership roles and delivered key projects across banking (Commercial International Bank – CIB), telecommunications (Vodafone), and fast-moving consumer goods (PepsiCo), driving measurable business outcomes and informed decision-making
Eng. Ahmed will give a Seminar on AI advancements shaping industry practice by RESO with a Q&A Panel including: Eng. Medhat Kandil, Eng.Mahmoud Hesham, and Eng.Mahmoud Daker on Saturday 12th of July 2025 from 10:30 – 11:00 AM.
This workshop offers a clear, up-to-date overview of the AI advancements shaping industry practice, with a focus on turning technical progress into real-world value. We begin by demystifying generative AI, unpacking Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic workflows that ground large language models (LLMs) in enterprise knowledge. Next, we explore the current LLM landscape (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and emerging open-source contenders) highlighting key differences in capability and performance. Building on this foundation, we examine purpose-built AI agents that already automate knowledge-intensive tasks, showcasing end-to-end use cases from the research industry as blueprints for other sectors.
We conclude with a forward-looking scan of upcoming trends – sharper models, falling inference costs, and deeper integration of AI agents into everyday workflows – before an interactive Q&A helps participants map these innovations to their own contexts. Attendees will leave with a strategic framework for harnessing next-wave AI capabilities and a concrete set of ideas to ignite innovation in their organizations.
