Best First-Year Economist Poster Competition – Fall 2025

The Economics Department at the Faculty of Management Sciences, October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) successfully organized the “Best First-Year Economist Poster Competition – Fall 2025.

This competition was for first-year students enrolled in the either of the two introductory economics modules – ECO101 or ECO102. The theme of the competition this semester focused on the dangerous impact of the rising cooking oil emissions, and how societies can efficiently save the environment from them. Our students demonstrated their abilities and dedication to environmental awareness by actively participating and producing creative and thought-provoking posters. Additionally, they formed groups composed of one or more students from across all the economics introductory classes.

Four groups participated in the competition this semester. Three groups were awarded the first place, while the remaining group was awarded second place. The winning posters were inspiring, spectacular, and magnificent, and showcased the students’ economic way of thinking and solving problems.

This competition was under the supervision of Prof. Heba Helmy, Head of the Economics Department. Moreover, the posters were evaluated by a distinguished panel of MSA economics instructors, namely Assoc. Prof. Esmat Kamel, Dr. Amal Soliman, in addition to Prof. Heba Helmy. To standardize evaluation across competitors, the panel used a well-articulated, economically-founded rubric to ensure evaluations are consistent, transparent, and fair.

Many thanks for our esteemed instructors for their time and efforts in assessing the posters, and special thanks to Prof. Elsayed Nagy, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, for his dedication and efforts in fostering a thriving academic community.

Finally, a million thanks to our participating students, who proved that great ideas can come from young minds.
