
Academic Year Harvest at the Prototype Research Laboratory – Faculty of Biotechnology
The Faculty of Biotechnology – October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) concludes the academic year at the Prototype Research Laboratory with a remarkable record of excellence and leadership in both local and international arenas, reaffirming the role of the Faculty’s research laboratories as platforms for innovation and incubators for research talents capable of competing globally.
International Projects and Competitions
Students of the Faculty of Biotechnology stood out through their mastery and application of the latest advanced technologies, enabling them to execute pioneering projects that keep pace with global scientific and industrial developments:
PolliBotics Project : Reached the semi-finals in the Rocket Fuel Competition – LEAP 2025 in Saudi Arabia, one of the largest technology events worldwide, competing alongside projects from leading global companies and research centers.
Safe Food Project : Achieved third place in the Dubai International Food Safety Conference 2024, competing against more than 140 scientific posters before nearly 3,500 participants and prestigious international organizations such as FAO and IAFP.
Partnerships and Industrial Collaboration
The Prototype Research Laboratory prepares its students not only for academic and research excellence but also for building strategic partnerships with leading companies. Recently, the startup PolliBotics signed a cooperation agreement with Cultivech, a leader in commercial hydroponic systems, with the aim of adopting student innovations and transforming them into startups, providing advanced training programs and distinguished career opportunities, as well as integrating academic knowledge with practical applications in smart agriculture and biotechnology.

On the local level, with its expertise and innovative technologies, the laboratory has continued to achieve distinguished results in local competitions, demonstrating its efficiency and ability to compete across various fields:
Major Conferences and Exhibitions
-OxyGreen Project : Presented to Beko Global in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, and H.E. Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister, and received a letter of recommendation from the company in recognition of the project’s high-quality execution.
-RoboDoc Team : Participated in GenZ DMC Startup Olympics, presenting an intelligent robot capable of providing preliminary diagnosis to patients with speed and accuracy.
-43rd Annual Meeting of the Egyptian Society of Surgical Oncology (ESS 2025): Oral presentation of the AI-Driven Camera Monitoring System project.
-Cairo ICT Exhibition: Presented in cooperation with ISF.
-First place in Smart Industry Hackathon – Beni Suef.
-PsychoNova Team: Presented their project at the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) conference in Alexandria, showcasing a scientific poster on neural foundations and mental health.

International Scholarships
The Faculty of Biotechnology continues to prepare students for competing for international scholarships. The laboratory has successfully qualified its researchers to receive prestigious scholarships worldwide:
-Research Assistant Doha Ibrahim: Awarded the Direct PhD Scholarship from Thailand, in recognition of her academic and research excellence.
-Research Assistant Ziad Abdel Aal: Awarded a full scholarship in Biochemical Engineering from South Korea, becoming the second research assistant from the laboratory to earn an international scholarship.
