A Field Trip to SEKEM/iSiS Farm
In line with its commitment to integrating academic knowledge with practical applications in food biotechnology, the Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) organized a field trip for 48 students enrolled in the “Industrial Projects” course to SEKEM/iSiS Farm.
During the visit, students gained an in-depth understanding of biotechnology applications in agriculture, biological control, food manufacturing, and packaging. Experts at SEKEM demonstrated the techniques of biological control used in organic farming, explaining how beneficial microorganisms play a vital role in food technology and sustainable pest management. In addition, the trip highlighted advanced food manufacturing techniques and packaging methods designed to preserve product quality and extend shelf life, all in strict adherence to organic standards.
This immersive experience not only deepened the students’ understanding of modern agriculture and food industries but also effectively bridged the gap between academic studies and industrial practices. It stands as a testament to our dedication to fostering innovation and practical expertise among future industry leaders.
