
MSA’s Faculty of Arts and Design Partners with Bernhard H. Mayer for Pink October 2026 Innovation Challenge
October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA)’s Faculty Of Arts And Design is proud to announce a strategic collaboration with Bernhard H. Mayer, the Swiss luxury brand established in 1871 and renowned for its high-precision watchmaking and exceptional craftsmanship. This partnership is part of the brand’s regional Open Innovation Challenge, inviting young designers across the Middle East and North Africa to create a special edition timepiece dedicated to Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026.
The initiative demonstrates Bernhard H. Mayer’s commitment to using design for meaningful social impact. By empowering emerging designers, the brand encourages creative expressions of hope, strength, and solidarity with women affected by breast cancer, turning artistry into a powerful message of compassion and resilience.
The Faculty of Arts & Design was selected as the brand’s partner in Egypt. To engage students in a creative experience that combines learning with practical application, the faculty organized an introductory session highlighting the objectives of the challenge, essential design principles, and the Swiss craftsmanship heritage that has shaped the brand’s identity for over 150 years.
Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Design at MSA, emphasized the educational and humanitarian significance of the collaboration:
“This challenge is more than a design brief; it is an opportunity for our students to explore how creativity can support a human cause. It allows them to understand how art can serve as a voice for hope, empathy, and positive societal impact.”
He also added:
“We are proud to see our students engage in a regional dialogue that merges innovation, craftsmanship, and social responsibility, in partnership with an inspiring global brand such as Bernhard H. Mayer.”
As part of the challenge, 15 MSA students submitted 16 innovative designs to Bernhard H. Mayer for consideration. The Open Innovation Challenge invites students to embrace bold ideas and produce purposeful designs reflecting the brand’s values of precision, passion, and excellence. aligned with Bernhard H. Mayer’s philosophy of “creativity with purpose.”
The winning regional design will be produced as an official Bernhard H. Mayer watch and launched globally during Pink October 2026. The winning designer will receive an exclusive training experience at the brand’s headquarters in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, while a portion of the watch’s proceeds will be donated to a local breast cancer support organization in the winner’s home country.
MSA’s Faculty Of Arts And Design celebrates this collaboration as a milestone that empowers its students, enhances international exposure, and reinforces the university’s commitment to integrating innovation, creativity, and social impact within the educational experience.
