The Faculty of Arts and Design at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts have participated in the annual “Torathna Exhibition for Heritage & Handicrafts” that took place at Egypt Center for international Exhibition in the 5th settlement at Cairo, Egypt with the duration of four days starting from the 2nd to the 5th of October, 2019.
This annual exhibition aims to support students in entrepreneurship projects, encourage the students of MSA University to be entrepreneurs and to participate in exhibitions which supports the Egyptian Identity and Handicrafts industries and finally to support the use of local materials in handicrafts industries. Moreover, Torathna Exhibition’s activities include displaying fashion designs inspired from heritage industries, displaying multifunctional furniture pieces, and displaying handicrafts scarfs and bags that express the Egyptian identity.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Design and the Head of The Center of Excellency, Dr. Walaa, and A.L. Nada Ahmed Arisha, four students were able to participate in Torathna Exhibition from the Faculty of Arts and design fashion and interior design department along with a participation from the Faculty of Management Sciences.
The students were Abdelrahman Abdelsabour (Fashion and Scraf designers), Yasmine Ibrahime and Taif Al Mokadem (Multifunctional Furniture Piece), and Abdelrahman (Bags Designer). The students were happy to participate and their feedback was that they were proud to be a part of the Torathna Exhibition which expresses the identity of Egypt and its handicrafts industries and that they were more motivated to being future Entrepreneurs and making a startup project in Egypt.
