HCV awareness campaign
HCV awareness campaign was done with the help of students (registering in the molecular diagnosis course). The campaign was sponsored with Le Baladna, Abbvie company, and Faculty of Biotechnology.
The aim of this campaign was to engage the young budding students to the problems of the community where each and every student was assigned to think outside of the box and to create a novel idea by which they can reach the public. The goodness of this project is that the students was applying what they have learned during the course.
The students learned how to perform fund raising as they approached company “Abbvie” and persuaded them to sponsor the campaign by providing a HCV diagnostic kit to 120 people moreover, the students became very enthusiastic when they knew that Dr. Nawal El Degwi will sponsor the treatment of HCV positive subjects. So this was the first time for our students to serve the community and to tackle a major problem from which Egyptian community really suffers from.
The students also prepared a perfect presentation to aware the people with the modes of transmission and the bad habits that made it very possible to spread the infection.
Moreover, the students prepared a survey containing some question that was tackled in the presentation to assess the success of the campaign and fortunately the campaign showed around 80% success in the answers of those surveys
